Walking around campus this year, you’ll see many new faces of both students and staff. One such teacher is not as new as one would think. This teacher is Maggie Albers from the science department. She attended high school here at Monterey High and said it felt like home, so she came back. Ms. Albers also grew up in Monterey and she enjoys the nature of the area. When asked what her favorite subjects were throughout school, she said she liked her art class and all her science classes.  Ms. Albers was also a member of MAOS throughout her high school years.

After she moved home from college, she was coaching swimming and it suddenly dawned on her that she should take up teaching. Her favorite high school sport was water polo, a game in which she still practices today. Her other hobbies include drawing, swimming, hunting, and fishing. As a school teacher, she said that if she could change one rule, it would be to make the school days shorter. Ms. Albers hopes her students remember her class as a positive learning environment and as a fun class. Lastly, an interesting experience that she had when living in Hawaii was making smoothies for canadian actress Rachel M1cAdams and co-founder of the rock band the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson.  Welcome, Ms. Albers
